Time-consuming false positives and limited HTML support
Medscape.com, a part of the WebMD network, is a portal publishing medical information for healthcare professionals. The Copyedit Services team reviews and approves digital pharmaceutical promotional material, which often contains lengthy ISIs, before it goes live.
Even though the team relied on an automated text verification tool, it was slowing them down. They needed a solution that wouldn’t require workarounds for HTML and that could handle all typical tasks.
The team’s requirements included the ability to quickly run:
- PDF and HTML file comparisons
- One-to-many comparisons for Word and HTML documents, and
- Checks of updated files for changes and discrepancies

During the trial, the Copyedit Services team learned how to use TVT efficiently and tested it on typical projects.
Early on, they ran into issues with HTML comparisons. Schlafender Hase identified the root cause and collaborated with the dev team to resolve HTML import issues encountered during the trial.
After that, the team could import HTML files directly every time, without first having to save them as PDFs.
During a 4-week time study, 4 editors tracked how long it took them to complete the same editorial review task with and without TVT. On average, TVT sped up reviews by 40%.
