Proofreading legal mentions in 15 minutes instead of 12 hours

The RA team at Pharma 5 realized that manual proofreading was holding them back, with some document reviews taking up to 24 working hours.

Pharma 5, a leading pharma company on the African continent, produces and markets 400+ products. The RA team is responsible for proofreading labeling and packaging materials.

At the time, the 2-person team was doing checks manually, with 15-page legal mentions taking up to 12 hours to proofread. Hinda Benkirane, the Regulatory Affairs team manager, realized that this approach was inefficient and started looking for an automated proofreading solution.

When TVT was recommended by a service provider, Pharma 5 reached out to check if it matched their requirements.

Choosing a product that checks all the boxes

Pharma 5 started their search with a clear list of software requirements.

The main goal for the team was finding a tool that would match or exceed their quality of work.

After going through a demo, Pharma 5 started using TVT. During the onboarding phase, the Schlafender Hase team also helped improve the team’s proofreading processes.

One major improvement was working with the Graphics team to change the way PDF artworks were prepared for review.

After switching from vectorized to live text, the RA team used TVT to find deviations between artwork copy and the original text in seconds, instead of checking PDFs manually.

With this workflow change, Pharma 5 approves packaging artwork with fewer revisions. And legal mentions are checked in just 15 minutes instead of 12 hours.

“Because proofreading has become more efficient and accurate, we are able to spend more time and resources on creating original documents of higher quality from the beginning,” Benkirane explains. “This has been a really important benefit for us.”
