Proofreading team needs an automated solution for higher accuracy

AstraZeneca was looking for a tool that would fit their internal quality control processes and help keep suppliers accountable.

A global pharmaceutical company operating in 100+ countries, AstraZeneca needed an automated proofreading solution for its Global Regulatory Labelling and Global Packaging departments.

At the time, 500+ proofreaders were manually reviewing packaging and marketing materials, reading and re-reading them to catch errors.

The teams hoped to find a solution that would help them get to “right first time” reviews — without disrupting existing QA processes. Other requirements included ease of use and ability to handle different types of content, from labeling and packaging to marketing and promotional materials, such as websites, presentations, brochures and direct mail.

Solution

Launching TVT after a rigorous selection process

The teams didn’t want to implement an untested solution. Instead, they set a timeline of 12 months to compare different products.

Even though the Global Packaging team was already using TVT for labeling and packaging content verification, the tool went through the same evaluation process as the rest of the solutions. 

After the initial selection, the proofreaders had a chance to try out the shortlisted products and provide their feedback. 

Ultimately, AstraZeneca chose TVT and TVT Artwork for a number of reasons:

  • proven experience in handling marketing and advertising materials, and
  • version comparison reports to keep suppliers accountable and continue improving internal QA workflows.

With TVT implemented globally, proofreaders are more productive and can hold suppliers to a higher standard of accountability.

In July 2021 AstraZeneca added TVT to its global standard operating procedures (SOPs) as a best practice for labeling, packaging and promo material QA.

The proofreading teams use TVT and TVT Artwork for development and management of core product information and market product information.

When surveyed in 2021, they rated TVT 4.16 out of 5 stars and reported productivity increases of up to 100%. They praised its user friendliness and accuracy — with one respondent calling the comparison tool “perfect.”
